Last week’s Healthy Selfie Festival saw lots of people trying out something new and making connections with neighbours. Over 40 people visited our market stall in the Healthy Living Centre to make their own Healthy Selfie Toolkit.
Over two days , several of the community groups that run regularly in the area held open sessions so that anyone could drop in and try out something new. The choir, art group, chocolate garden and allotment group all took part and there were also free taster sessions for the yoga and fitness sessions that run every week.
Growing Together and Our Neighbourhood joined forces with local people to lay on the event, which had over 100 people joining in conversations and finding out about ways to get involved in the neighbourhood. It was all in support of Mental Health Awareness Week because studies have shown that being connected to friends and neighbours is good for your health.
